CLASSES

All classes will be taught by accredited McGown teachers with many years of experience. Every class will last the full day--9:30-3:30 on Friday and Saturday;Sunday 9:00-3:00.

Teachers selected to teach are: Norma Batastini, Sandy Cheverie, Lois Dugal, Gail Hill, Nancy MacLenan, Betty McClentic, Norma McElhenny, Sibyl Osicka, Vivily Powers, Charlotte Price and Claire deRoos.

Classes will be scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

You must also register for the exhibit to take clases.

Friday Teachers

Lois Dugal

Wide-cut Flowers
Lois will be doing a Ruth Hall Pattern, 22" x 35" called "Early Welcom." It has flowers, in and out of pots, various leaf shapes, "welcom" lettering and a border. Pattern on burlap--$25.00; on monkscloth--$32.50; on warp or linen--$35.00. Wool for entire rug would be $125.00. Deduct $25.00 if you supply border.

Nancy MacLennan

Fine-cut Paisley
This is a Jane McGown Flynn pattern called "Cachemaeres;" it is 15" square. Choose your backing and select your wools from her collection of reds, rusts, oranges, golds, blues and greens--the traditional colors for paisley shawls. Pattern on warp is $23.50 and motif wool would be approximately $50.00. Background available at extra cost.

Norma McElhenny

Folk-Art Santa
This "American Country Santa," designed by Sally Swanson, The Woolen Palette, will be available on linen--$50 and warp and monkscloth--$40. Many color choices available including textures, patterned and dyed wool and fur. Finishing techniques will also be discussed in class. Wool for face and beard will be $8.00. Other wool available for rest of pattern at $11.00 per quarter yard. Pattern size is 18 x 26.

Sibyl Osicka

Wide-cut Moose
This is an original 28" x 30" pattern called "A Moose in the Forest." Spots and swatches will be used. Cost for pattern on linen and wool for the moose will be $88.50. Background wool available at extra cost.

Charlotte Price

Fine-cut Orientals
Students can select one of the following patterns:
#B525 "Qashqai" 16" x 36" (not shown)
#1114 "Latchhook Medallion" 19 1/2" x 24" (top left))
#1193 "Shanghai Center" 20" x 20" (center left)
#1305 "Sultanbad Center" 24" x 29" (bottom left)

Cost depends on pattern requested and wool required. Charlotte will contact students prior to the class to determine the students wishes. You may bring in your own project to work on.

Saturday Teachers

Sandy Cheverie

Wide-cut Scrolls
Sandy will be doing a 17" x 21" original design called "Scrolls." Will use many dyed, textured and patterned wools with color! Can go for the old and antique or a more contemporary look. Pattern on linen will cost $45.00. Wool will be $11.00 per quarter yard.

Gail Hill

Wide-cut Buildings
Gail will be doing "Tall Barn/Tall House," 8" x 36". Discussion will be held on making changes to have the piece more personal. This will be followed by fabric selection which will be available in a variety of colors and textures. Pattern cost is $28.00 with materials around $36.00.

Sibyl Osicka

Fine-cut Baby Foxes
An original pattern 16" x 19" named "Waiting for Mom" will be taught. The babies have crawled into a rotting tree stump--waiting for Mom. Discussion will include hooking the eyes and placing the highlights and a lecture on decaying wood. Cost for pattern on rug warp and wool for faces will be $75.00.

Vivily Powers

All-cut Crewels
Two different patterns willl be used: Jane McGown Flynn's #PT563 (16" square) for fine-cuts (top left) and Fraser #326 "Mini Crewel," 21" x 27" for wide-cuts (bottom left).

Wool for each motif will be $35.00. Background and border wool will be available. Pattern PT563 will cost #19.50 on monks cloth or rug warp. Mini Crewel will be $30.00 on rug warp and $38.00 on linen.

Fine-cut Stained Glass

An original 12" square called "Stained Glass Heart and Apple." There will be a dyeing lesson using no dyes. Choose your woolens like an artisan selects glass. Lots of room to do your own thing. Pattern will cost $20.00 to $25.00. Wool will be $3.50 per ounce.

Sunday Teachers

Norma Batastini

All-cut Geometrics
Original called "Log Cabin Table Runner;" 14" x 38." Three color plans will be offered: gold, olive and natural; red, white and blue; rust, grape and taupe. Pattern on linen is $40.00. Complete pattern and wool will be $125.00.

Betty McClentic

Fine-cut Flowers
Betty will be using Pearl McGown's 12" square "English Garden." Flowers will be covered in class and leaf woolens will be available. All kits will be the same. $15.00 for the pattern on rug warp and $15.00 for the flower swatches.
